Better Sleep
Better Health

Sleep disorders disrupt your body’s most important time. Do you have an undiagnosed sleep disorder? One out of every six people suffers from some type of sleep disorder with over 60 different sleep disorders documented. Memorial Hospital of Converse County (MHCC) offers Sleep Studies as part of their services!

What to Expect from a Sleep Study

When a person is suspected to have a sleep problem or disorder, the primary care physician typically refers their patient to a sleep lab where he or she will participate in a sleep study. MHCC has two study bedrooms located on the 4th floor of the hospital. The rooms provide a quiet, private setting for patients, and participating in a sleep study is a very simple test. The noninvasive test records a variety of body functions during sleep. Electrical activity of the brain, breathing patterns, oxygen levels, heart rate, and muscle tone are all monitored. The results are read by Sleep Specialists who then share the results with the patient’s primary physician and offers treatment suggestions. Sleep studies are covered by most insurance carriers and Medicare. Your primary physician can recommend if a sleep study at MHCC is right for you.
